One interesting fact about you.

I dislocated my shoulder 15 times before finally getting surgery to fix it. Ways of dislocation include but are not limited to: wakeboarding, frisbee, soccer, basketball, outpost (camp game like capture the flag), starting a chainsaw, taking off a wet t-shirt after wakeboarding, wrestling, and sneezing.

How did you get started in graphic design?

During the late 90s, my dad bought an external hard drive from a friend who ran his own media and production company in Chicago. Along with its 750MB of space it also had a copy of Photoshop. I always enjoyed creating. This just gave me an outlet to create in a digital space.

Word on the street is that you’re very handy around the house. What’s your favorite project you’ve worked on?

Probably our (my wife, Erin, and I’s) closet turned office. There was a 6’x2′ closet in the entryway of our house that was very underutilized. So with some paint, old wood, new wood, leftover quartz, 6 soft close under-mount sliders, 3 recessed can lights, 2 new electrical fixtures, and a finish nailer, we had ourselves a nice office to handle the BeMent family business.

What do you think is the greatest invention of all time?

It’s a toss up between Concrete and Waterskiing.

What is your favorite brand and why?

Depending on the season of life, age, hobbies, etc. it has changed. But I would have to say the brand that has most consistently been at the top of the list is Volkswagen. Recent emissions scandal aside, they make a highly desirable automobile. I love the styling, the checkered seats on the wolfburg edition, the smell of crayons when you open the door, the way a roof rack fits on one, the Sign Then Drive campaign, and pretty much every commercial they have made. I also think growing up in the midwest where VWs were not as prominent as they are in California elevated the brand higher in my mind.

What would you do if you were invisible for a day?

I would climb to the top of the huge crane across the street from our office. (or) Convince my daughter she can actually fly.
