Get to know your content writer, Djani! 1) What’s your favorite brand and why? I’m all about female empowerment, so brands that are founded by women and support women will always be my favorites. Two that come to mind are Tarte or Bumble. Both stick to their values—Tarte makes fun and gorgeous cruelty-free products, Bumble puts the safety and comfort of their users first, even going so far as to removing profile pics with guns from its app—and use their platforms to stand up to bullying. To me, a brand should go beyond just delivering a product or service, and I think both these brands excel at that—while having fun and being engaging. 2) We hear you recently went to Japan. What was one highlight of your trip and one thing that caught you by surprise? One thing that really surprised me on my trip to Japan was how much I was able to eat without wanting to curl up in a fetal position. I had my best bowl of ramen, best plate of sashimi, and most importantly, best donut while there–all major highlights. There was just so much to see and the culture is so interesting, two weeks wasn’t enough time exploring. (I’m also having major bidet withdrawals.) 3) If you could give one piece of advice to your teenage self, what would it be? I shall give this in the form of a letter, written on pink scented stationary (naturally): Dear Teenage Djani, Whatever it is that you’re obsessing over right now–newspaper deadline, million-page essay, a boy, a friend–it’s shaping you to become who you will be in the future. Relax; while you may think you have it all figured out, you’re just going to laugh at yourself years from now. You don’t have it figured out (still don’t, BTW), it wasn’t that big of a deal, and you were definitely on a break. LaLaLahv You, Future Djani 4) If you had your own TV show, what would it be about? I grew up watching The Hills (and still have a slightly embarrassing obsession with Lauren Conrad), so I’d love a show with that type of aesthetic. However, I have way less friend or boy drama than what was featured on that series, so it would have to be about the actual most entertaining aspects of my life: traveling and eating. 5) If you could be best friends with any celebrity, who would you choose and why? If Rihanna could just answer all the DMs I’ve sent her asking her to hang out, I’d be so happy. She’s a badass and always looks like she’s having fun. She doesn’t care what others think about her and I’d love for that confidence to rub off on me. (I’d also love to travel by private jet, and hang out on yachts, and have access to her entire Fenty line…)
